We are delighted to welcome our Nursery and Reception children to Hewens Primary School! Their first week has been filled with excitement, exploration, and lots of smiles as they begin their learning journey. Throughout the week, pupils have been settling into their new environment, making friends, and getting to know their teachers. Activities have focused on helping children feel safe and confident, with plenty of opportunities for play, storytelling, creative tasks, and outdoor fun. We are incredibly proud of how well our youngest learners have adapted to their new routines. Thank you to all parents, guardians and carers for your support during this important transition.

We look forward to a wonderful year ahead, full of growth, discovery, and joyful learning!

 On Friday 4th July 2025, we celebrated Culture Day – a vibrant and joyous occasion where our school community came together to honour and explore the rich tapestry of cultures that shape who we are. Pupils and staff proudly wore traditional clothing representing their heritage, filling the school with colour, meaningful conversations, and a real sense of celebration. Throughout the day, children engaged in a range of enriching activities, including storytelling sessions, cultural dances, and creative art projects inspired by countries from across the globe. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to learn more about one another’s backgrounds and to celebrate the diversity that makes our school so special.

We’re thrilled to share that our Annual Summer Fair was a huge success! A big thank you to everyone who came along, joined in the fun, and helped make the day so special. The fair was packed with exciting activities and treats, the atmosphere was buzzing with laughter, creativity, and community spirit. Whether you were
bouncing, keyring making, snacking, or winning prizes, we hope you had as much fun as we did! Don’t forget – the winners of our raffle prizes will be announced on Monday 7th July. Stay tuned!

From Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th June 2025, our Year 6 pupils embarked on an unforgettable residential adventure at PGL Marchants Hill in Surrey – and what a fantastic time they had! Over the course of three action-packed days, the children took part in a wide variety of exciting outdoor activities designed to challenge them physically, mentally and socially. These included raft building (and rowing their own handmade vessels), survival skills, rock climbing, orienteering, archery, the exhilarating giant swing, aeroball competitions, and climbing Jacob’s Ladder – a true test of balance and teamwork. Each activity provided opportunities for pupils to develop confidence, resilience and communication skills, while also having plenty of fun. They worked brilliantly in teams, encouraged one another, and tackled new experiences with courage and determination.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our History Club, a vibrant new addition to our extracurricular offerings! This exciting club is already capturing the imagination of our young historians, and we couldn’t be more proud of the enthusiasm and creativity on display.
