On Thursday, 25th September 2025, our Year 6 pupils set off bright and early for an exciting day trip to Boulogne-Sur-Mer in France. Fourteen pupils, accompanied by staff, departed at 5:45am and returned safely at 9:10pm, tired but full of wonderful experiences.

During the trip, pupils explored a variety of cultural and historical sites. Highlights included a visit to Napoleon’s Column and Museum, a stop at Boulogne’s bustling fish market, and the fascinating Egyptian display in the town centre. They also had the opportunity to see the stunning Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.

The group enjoyed a traditional French lunch at a local restaurant and later observed kite surfing along the coast before beginning their return journey to the UK. This enriching trip gave pupils the chance to experience French culture first-hand, broaden their knowledge of history, and create lasting memories with their classmates.

Thank you to all the wonderful souls who dressed up and sprinkled a bit of their magic into the day. This year, many of the teachers also participated in ‘The Masked Reader’, similar to the TV show ‘The Masked Singer’. The children truly enjoyed this event and were eager to find out which teacher was behind each mask, and which book they were reading. You can find ‘The Masked Reader’ videos on our school’s Instagram page. Why not get involved and make a comment.

They learnt about the protective helmets, fire-resistant uniforms, hoses, and breathing equipment that firefighters use to stay safe and save lives. The crew also explained how they remain visible, respond to emergencies, and why calling 999 is so important. A huge thank you to our local fire crew for an inspiring and educational visit!

Throughout the week, we were delighted to welcome over 15 parents, guardians, and carers who generously volunteered their time to read stories and engage in insightful conversations with our pupils. Their enthusiasm and storytelling skills helped spark imagination, encourage a love for reading, and create meaningful discussions. The event was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to explore new books, hear different perspectives, and deepen their appreciation for the art of storytelling. Seeing the joy on their faces as they listened and participated was truly heart-warming! Thank you to everyone who took part in making National Storytelling Week such a memorable and enriching experience. We look forward to sharing more stories together in the future!
