World Music Day
World Music Day was officially launched in 1982. It is celebrated every year on the 21st June. Each year, people are encouraged to listen to their favourite music and share it with others.
At Hewens Primary School, we will be celebrating World Music Day on Friday 1st July with a special music assembly in the quad. Each class will represent a country, its flag and perform a song or dance related to the country. We aim for all the children to experience the diverse genres of music celebrated across the world and how this relates to their cultures and experiences.
We also want the children to appreciate that music is a wonderful creative outlet for us to enjoy. It has many positive effects on health and wellbeing as when we listen to our favourite songs, we are overwhelmed with joy and happy memories.
